Art from the 1960s onwards is presented in the architecturally spectacular new building. Minimal art, abstract expressionism and Arte Povera are the most important styles here. The most recent work is Pipilotti Rist's “Pixelwald” (2021). The older building houses renowned works from the 13th century to the present day. The largest Munch collection outside of Norway and the most extensive collection of works by Alberto Giacometti, among others, are internationally recognized. Other highlights include paintings by Monet, Picasso and Chagall as well as Swiss artists Hodler, Segantini and Blll.
