Zurich’s four seasons
Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, has a lot to offer – regardless of when or the reason why you opt for a stay in the city on the Limmat river. Many internationally and nationally successful companies have their head offices in close proximity to our hotel. The famous Paradeplatz square – arguably the most important financial centre of Switzerland – is just a few stops away from us. Apart from that, the city offers different highlights depending on the season.
Spring
Sechseläuten is a very special kind of spring festival in April every year. Watch the traditional procession of the guilds through the city centre and see for yourself how the people of Zurich put an end to winter. On beautiful spring days, a stroll along the Lake Zurich basin is among our favourite pastimes: walk past the Voilère, an aviary and veterinary hospital, treat yourself to ice cream and take in the panoramic view of the Alps.
Summer
On hot summer days, cool off with a boat trip or visit one of the many river or lakeside swimming areas. Badis, or outdoor pools, are of historic significance and feature captivating architecture as well as the one-of-a-kind Badi ambience. A long day on or in the lake will work up an appetite. We will gladly book you an outdoor spot at the Leafs Restaurant.
Autumn
The Uetliberg mountain is at its best in autumn. Climb up our local mountain, or take the train almost all the way to the top. Your reward? A gorgeous view of the entire city and, depending on the weather, the Alpine panorama. Here is a tip to enhance the experience: buy yourself a bag of hot chestnuts!
Winter
In winter, stroll through the romantic Christmas markets and warm up with a cup of mulled wine. There are various ice skating rinks or the nearby Alps for sporting activities – and if it is too cold, you can always experience Zurich from inside heated rooms: the National Museum, the Opera House or the Kunsthaus art gallery as well as the Tonhalle concert hall have wonderful alternative programmes for cold or rainy winter days.
